LITTLE GREY.

lexie was one of the few people who truly didn’t need to the time to study. so for her study hall was just a period for her to catch up with some reading seeing as she’s already finished all the homework she needed to do. it was one of the benefits of having a PHOTOGRAPHIC MEMORY. school always comes easy to her so she tries to help others when they needed it.     brown eyes looked to her the side at the person who sat down next to her, finding none other than alex karev. they weren’t really friends. she shared most of her classes with him but they never talked unless they needed to. like right now apparently.

‘ umm.. hello to you too, alex. how am i you ask ? oh i’m good. you know, just enjoying my book. ’ she shrug her shoulders as she placed her book down on the table before grabbing her notebook from her bag and handing it to him. ‘ here – everything you need to know is here. ’

whatever.   ❜   he haphazardly drops his worn bookbag beside the table, settling further into the seat. the notebook   (   which is much neater than his   )   is quickly flipped through to find the page he needs & is looked upon with some kind of great relief. maybe he won’t be able to memorize all of the identities in time, but at least he won’t totally bomb this test now.

❛   dude, seriously, i owe you one,   ❜   is spoken in tandem with a   (   thankfully   )   muted stomach growl. not only were their cabinets even more poorly stocked than they usually are, but there wasn’t enough room in his pockets to get anything for himself at the gas station without it being noticeable. gaze strays from the notebook in favor of the food he bestowed upon her. maybe it’s in poor taste to ask for it back, but that doesn’t mean they can’t share the bag of chips. a jut of his chin towards the food precedes:      you gonna open those?   ❜

alex is a firm believer in the good that study hall can do, especially when placed right before ap calculus & ESPECIALLY when shared with the walking textbook that is lexie grey. no time to memorize all the trig identities for the quiz in t minus forty minutes because your mom had an episode that lasted until three in the morning? no problem! he plops down across from her at the table she has chosen in the library, a stolen candy bar & bag of chips placed on the open pages of her book since he knows how much she likes to snack. (if she asks, he’ll tell her he got them from the vending machine.) it’s not like he does this regularly —— his homework is almost always done without any assistance & he’s competent enough to understand the material —— but he’s asked for her help enough to know that bearing gifts doesn’t hurt.

look, i didn’t have time to memorize all those identities. can y’gimme a hand?
